Thank you for your interest in joining our school community. Each year we offer up to 30 Reception places, with all applications considered under our admissions policy.

To apply, please visit Doncaster Council’s website. There is no automatic right of admission, so all applications must be made directly through the local authority.

If we receive more applications than places available, we prioritise:

Looked After Children or those previously in care

Siblings of pupils still on roll when the child joins us

Distance from school (measured in a straight line)

Moving schools is a big decision, and we know how important it is to make the right choice for your child. We recommend arranging a visit so you can get a feel for the school and see us in action. Contact the school office on 01709 513010 or email admin@astreacastle.org to arrange a tour with the Principal or Vice Principal.

Things to think about on your visit:

Do you feel welcome?

Do the children seem happy?

Is this an environment your child would enjoy and thrive in?

Do staff come across as warm and supportive?

At Castle Academy we have an excellent staff team who work hard to make sure all children feel safe and make the most of the opportunities on offer.

If your child attends another school, then the move should be discussed with the Head teacher. This meeting is not to dissuade you from moving but to give the school an opportunity to resolve any issues there may be. A change of school is a big decision and will impact on your child and their learning.

If you still decide to move your child, then your child’s current school MUST complete a transfer form. When you have made a choice of school, this form should be taken to the school. The school will complete their section of the form. This is then sent to the Local Authority’s Admissions Department.

All in-year applications are processed by the Local Authority.
